Silica Gel share live version of their hit single ‘NO PAIN’ for THE F1RST TAKE
Following the successful conclusion of their largest-ever headline show, drawing an audience of over 15,000, Korean four-piece band Silica Gel returned with their latest single ‘BIG VOID’ and appeared on Japan’s leading music YouTube channel THE FIRST TAKE, which boasts over 11.6 million subscribers. On the channel, the band delivers a live performance of their signature track ‘NO PAIN’.
THE FIRST TAKE is renowned for capturing the full intensity of an artist’s vocals, performance, and musical expression in a single, uninterrupted live take. The channel has featured many of Japan’s most celebrated artists, including YOASOBI, Hikaru Utada, SPYAIR, and ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION, as well as global stars such as Måneskin, Harry Styles, and Avril Lavigne. With its minimalist production and highly focused environment, the format is widely praised for revealing an artist’s authenticity and musicianship in their rawest form.
Silica Gel’s appearance on THE FIRST TAKE marks the first time a Korean band composed solely of male members has been featured on the channel. The performance has drawn attention as a significant moment, reaffirming the band’s growing musical presence not only in Korea but also within Japan’s contemporary music scene.
In an interview clip released alongside the performance, vocalist Kim Hanjoo shared, “We chose this song because it receives the strongest response at our live shows. I hope that viewers of THE FIRST TAKE will be able to sing along with us when they experience this song at an offline performance as well.”
Meanwhile, Silica Gel are set to return to Japan for their ‘Syn.THE.Size.X Japan Tour’, with headline shows scheduled for December 22 in Tokyo and December 23 in Osaka. Riding the momentum of ‘BIG VOID,’ the band aims to further strengthen their connection with Japanese fans, whose anticipation continues to grow.
