Aside from the sheer quality of the songwriting, musically he's very minimalistic and melody-led. . . Oisin has a great balance of vision and humility” - Bill Ryder-Jones

Today, enigmatic Galway-born singer-songwriter Oisin Mod returns with ruminative new single titled ‘Mirror Mirror’. The track marks his first new music since his acclaimed 2022 debut Honeycomb and sees him once again working with Bill Ryder-Jones (ex-The Coral) who produced both the album and this new offering.

Honeycomb saw Oisin delivering on all the promise of his early singles and live dates, supporting the likes of Gruff Rhys. His delicate and hypnotic blending of candid, wistful lyrics, with minimalist yet deeply melodic instrumentation earned widespread plaudits from the likes of The New Cue, Hot Press, Daily Mirror, Daily Express, and The Big Issue, leading to performances alongside Leale Neal (who also designed it’s artwork) and Kate Bollinger, as well as his two only headline shows to date in London and Ireland.

Musically, those releases have drawn comparisons to everyone from Elliott Smith to solo Lennon, and Mazzy Star, as well as his formative diet of 60/70s folk-tinged storytellers – Young, Dylan, Cohen – but this new release finds Oisin at his most self-assured and confident. Combining the retro swirl of his more pared-back breakthrough material with the resonant guitar lines, warm analogue keys, and gentle, poignant vocals which later blossomed on his debut outing, ‘Mirror Mirror’ sees Oisin beginning a new chapter, delving into his most introspective and observational themes yet, while amalgamating everything that has brought him to this point.

Speaking on the single, Oisin says, “Mirror Mirror is about pretending and observing others doing the same. It's looking over your shoulder while talking to you in search of a better option...”

Despite only playing a handful of shows, he has quietly established himself a low-key cult following in his homeland and beyond, and with further new music to come, everyone’s eyes should stay laser-focused on Oisin Mod.
