‘DOUR’ announce their debut album ‘AGORA’ and share lead single ‘Neophiliac’
DOUR
Today, Vancouver band DOUR announce their debut album AGORA, arriving Friday, June 19th. Alongside the news, they share the album's opening track and first single, ‘Neophiliac’, a claustrophobic and tense introduction to the record, out now.
As the album's first single, ‘Neophiliac’ opens the album with this same tension. Built around a rigid, pulsing backbone, it explores the flattening of identity and the experience of living “screen to screen”. The track is immediate, but its deeper resonance becomes clear when listened to in the context of the album as a whole.
Across their debut album AGORA, DOUR sketch a stark view of contemporary life, shaped by technological saturation, social detachment, and the erosion of self. There is a sense of people folding inwards, caught between awareness and inertia. Lyrically and sonically, AGORA does not tidy this discomfort. It stays with it, letting repetition, tension, and space convey the weight of the material.

AGORA carries more than the weight of a debut. The record was written and recorded with an earlier incarnation of the band as a three-piece, including bassist Gabe Jacob Ferman, who has since passed away. Rather than leaving these songs behind, DOUR have chosen to release them as they were intended, preserving that creative partnership and giving the work a life beyond the room where it was made.
Since the album was completed, the band has evolved into a new lineup, forming a close-knit collective. What holds them together is a shared sense of purpose not only in the music but in the catharsis it provides. AGORA now sits at the centre of that, part document, part outlet, and part way of making sense of the experiences that shaped it.
DOUR first emerged with their 2025 EP Rudiments and have since honed their live shows, sharing stages with acts such as CHALK, DZ Death Rays, Omni, Friko, Art d’Ecco, and Tropical Fuck Storm. Their performances have grown alongside the lineup, becoming less about replication and more about reinterpreting the material in light of who the band is now.
AGORA is a record of survival, of keeping songs and memory alive, and of finding connection through shared experience. It feels less like a starting point and more like a line being drawn, holding something important in place while everything around it continues to shift.
