Glasgow’s Cowboy Hunters have just announced their ‘Punched In The Head’ single release party, taking place next Wednesday, 30th September, at The Elephants Head Camden. The free-entry show will be held to mark the release of the band’s overwhelmingly requested new single, with tickets available via a ballot now open until 5pm this Sunday. Winners will be notified on Monday.

The buzz around Cowboy Hunters’ Megan Pollock and Desmond Johnston – who interchangeably handle bass, vocals and drums – has been growing exponentially. Their infectiously crass brand of distorted, grizzly nonchalance, both in performance and personality, is rabble-rousing crowds across the UK, stirring discourse in comment sections, and sending their streaming numbers to new heights.
At the centre of the current frenzy is ‘Punched in the Head’, a track that has already clocked up 2.9 million views on Instagram despite being unavailable to stream. Dozens upon dozens of comments across the band’s social platforms have seen listeners begging for its release, while Cowboy Hunters have amassed 1.3 million Spotify streams over the past four weeks, with monthly listeners more than doubling to over 190,000. Across the same period, their Instagram content has reached 7.1 million views, giving a sense of just how quickly Cowboy Hunters are gathering pace ahead of the track’s arrival on streaming platforms.
And the momentum isn’t confined to the internet. Having played around 200 shows over the past two years, Cowboy Hunters have built a reputation for a chaotic, high-energy live show, supporting the likes of Franz Ferdinand, GANS, Bob Vylan, Witch Fever, and Sleaford Mods, alongside appearances at festivals with a queue down the road at The Great Escape and filling their tent at End of the Road. Following the September IFF showcase, the band have also attracted booking interest from across Europe, with offers and enquiries spanning multiple territories.
Now, with ‘Punched in the Head’ finally heading to streaming platforms, the wait is almost over. The demand is there, the rooms are getting bigger, and Cowboy Hunters show no signs of slowing down.
