A blissful mix of lo-fi, ambient, electro and Indie, Decibels’ debut single The Lesser sees its UK release on March 26th through Serious Types, in the midst of a swell of blog coverage, BBC Radio support and, perhaps most excitingly, an appearance of their track Rubber Dinghy Rapids on a forthcoming Warp Records ‘Bleep’ compilation

Decibels are Stuart Bruce (lead vocals, keys, percussion, looping), Dave Crawford (synths, programming, sound manipulation), Anthony Luk (synths, guitar, baritone harmonies), Marin Luk (synths, soprano harmonies, percussion) and Adam Branaghan (guitar, tenor harmonies, percussion). The band came together after meeting at a rave in Northampton’s woods, instantly bonding over a shared vision of a project fusing 4 synths, a guitar and a hell of a lot of percussion.

Initially just supplying remixes to other artists, original tracks soon began to surface, with interest in the band constantly on the rise. Word spread as BBC Introducing and various online bloggers all got on board, and soon, Decibels were having songs featured on blog mix-tapes, Fake DIY, and appeared on Huw Stephen’s Radio One show, as well as numerous BBC Introducing shows.

In order to take the leap from laptop to live, they took the desperate measure of selling guitars, amps, and acquiring any kit they could lay their hands on. Finally the bleeps and sequences of the studio were tweaked for the live arena, and ever since their filthy percussion-laden live shows have left behind a trail of broken sound men, blown speakers and blown away audiences.

Finding a niche was easy, establishing themselves in it is now the key.

Decibels will be featured on a Bleep compilation (in conjunction with Warp records) set for release mid March. This is followed by The Lesser; the band are keeping the DIY-ethos by funding the it themselves, and it is released digitally on 26th March 2012.
