Lambrini Girls share new single 'White Van'

Praise for Lambrini Girls:

".. an absolute, queer punk anthem!” - BBC Radio 1, Jack Saunders

“New single ‘Help Me I’m Gay’ recalls those early Bikini Kill cuts, or even Brighton forebears Huggy Bear. A blast of corrosive noise that bounds out of the speakers with a beaming smile on its face, the song wants to burst out of the boxes society attempts to put around us.” - CLASH

"Raucously untamed feral punk, a frenetic and fiery blast of thrashy mayhem that takes no shit" - Gigwise

"A cornerstone of Brighton's queer music scene" - Kerrang! Magazine

"Their newest rager… has grabbed their onstage persona by the neck and plunged it into 3-minutes of raucous sarcasm." - So Young

Recently named as part of the NME 100, Lambrini Girls share new single ‘White Van’ as well as announcing debut EP You’re Welcome out 19th May 2023 via Big Scary Monsters (pre-order here), plus announce a UK headline tour for the start of summer with tickets on-sale now here.

Based in Brighton, Phoebe Lunny (Vocals/Guitar - she/they), Lilly Macieira (Bass - she/they) and Catt Jack (Drums - N/A) have a strong artistic bond over their creative common ground - hot button societal issues combined with a biting, tongue in cheek lyrical style all their own.

‘White Van’ is a message to street harassers, with its seething vocals and blistering soundtrack.

“A satirical take on catcalling, the story of being followed around in a white van. We’re taught, systemically, that it’s our sole responsibility to prevent our harassment. ‘What were you wearing?’ or ‘You shouldn’t have walked home by yourself’, implies your body in a public place is considered public property. If you do not modify your behavior in everyday life to protect yourself, then it’s your fault entirely. Instead of blaming us, maybe we should point the finger at Terry with his dick out behind the wheel and the system that has enabled his behavior for years.”

“Rolling down the windows of your Ford Transit and screaming ‘fucking beautiful’ won't makeanyone rip their clothes off and give you head behind a Kwik Fit. Do better, love Lambrini Girls”

The three-piece announce their debut EP You’re Welcome that’ll be released 19th May 2023 via Big Scary Monsters -  a collection of songs to empower those who have ever made to feel invalidated and overlooked.

Containing previous single ‘Help Me I’m Gay’ which Phoebe used to come out to her mum, as well as ‘White Van’, other tracks include ‘Boys In The Band’ that’s about calling out abusers in the scene, and ‘Terf Wars’ which is pretty simple - Transphobia has no place in feminism. ‘Mr Lovebomb’ looks at altering behaviour in relationships, and ‘Lads lads lads’ is about toxic masculinity.

Never ones to take themselves too seriously, Lambrini Girls had this to say about the forthcoming release,  “Ghost written by Matt Hancock, ‘You’re Welcome’ was considered to be one of the worst EPs ever released and declared a biohazard. Rediscovered by Lambrini Girls whilst bathing in their swamp, the EP can now be exchanged for discounted massage coupons and a selection of cured meats.”

They add, “Medical waste aside, if someone out there has made you feel like a flaming pile of shit, then we hope this EP empowers you to absolutely fucking send it.”

More about Lambrini Girls:

Lambrini girls formed in the swamplands underneath Skegness Butlins, a scene filled with toxicity, a severe lack of accountability and not enough gravy. Flying the nest with a dream to curate slut vibes nationwide, they became the gayest band to ever win 50 consecutive Eurovision contests in a row.

Due to their massive success, they now all share a planet near earth in order for them to raise their 150 babies collectively (the father of which, is Lilly's pedalboard) however, they do still practise in Brighton so be sure to keep your eyes peeled for Lambrini Girls hotspots e.g your local skip or police station.

Inspiration is drawn from the likes of Savages, Le Tigre, The Spice Girls and unresolved trauma; not only do Lambrini Girls plan on setting your bin on fire- they want to create spaces at shows for anyone who feels like there isn’t a place for them there already. No one deserves to feel uncomfortable, no one deserves to feel invisible, start conversations with your mates, never let anyone stop you existing authentically and most importantly: Gays to the front.

A long time staple of the Brighton scene, in 2021 the release of their first singles brought the band’s sonic barrage to a whole new circuit of ears and culminated late last year in the release of their well-received single ‘Help Me I’m Gay’ cementing their place as an unmissable new prospect in 2023 and with support from the likes of CLASH, NME, Kerrang! Magazine, So Young, Loudwire, BBC Radio 1, 5Live and BBC6 Music.

Making a host of new fans with their incendiary live shows, the band have been announced for The Great Escape, 2000 Trees, and have also recently performed alongside the likes of Shame, Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes, and Gilla Band.

Simply put, Lambrini Girls are here to take over the scene, one fizzy bottle at a time.
