World music PR

It was a pleasure working with Prescription right from the outset. They displayed genuine enthusiasm for our music, coupled with a positive and open approach, and delivered a hugely effective campaign that surpassed all our expectations. Highly recommended.

Promoting world music takes a special team who understand the genre; and we at Prescription PR are a team who do.

We have excellent relationships with contacts at the key specialist publications like Songlines and world music-friendly journalists at  Mojo, Uncut, The Guardian, The Times, The i, Record Collector, Q, RnR, The Wire, Huck and more — we can make sure your music is put in front of the right people.

We’re proud to work with an eclectic mix of artists from traditional world music, as well as jazz, experimental, electronic, rock and classical crossover acts.

The breadth of genres we work with as a company gives us the contacts and the knowledge to help you not only gain coverage within the traditional world music press, but reach new audiences in other areas too.

Our track record in world music PR

  • We’ve recently had the pleasure of working with Cambodian surf-rock band Dengue Fever, for whom we secured the front-page of the Guardian’s G2 supplement and a lead review. We also secured the band coverage from many other titles including Songlines, Mojo, Uncut, Q, Hunger TV, Hot Press, NME, Metro, The i, Shindig!, Record Collector, Dazed and Gigwise.

  • We also worked on the latest album from neo-Sufi artist Arooj Aftab who was covered in fRoots, Songlines, The Wire, Financial Times, Huck, Prog, Notion and many other outlets.

  • We handled the press for the Ivor Novello Lifetime Achievement award-winning composer and artist, Nitin Sawhney. Our work on his latest Live at Ronnie Scott’s album saw him covered by Mojo, Songlines, Jazzwise, Jazz Journal, The Skinny, Record Collector, The i, New Internationalist, Trebuchet Magazine and more.

  • We worked with Lebanese composer and artist Omar Rahbany whose debut Arabic jazz fusion album ‘Passport’ received praise from the likes of Songlines, Uncut, R2, Jazz FM, BBC Radio 3 Late Junction, The Arts Desk and more.

  • We are proud to have been the press team for the esoteric Estonian fiddle player, experimentalist and singer Maarja Nuut, for whom we secured a Mojo Rising feature, as well as coverage with the Guardian, RnR, Songlines, fRoots, The Line of Best Fit, the Quietus, Clash, The i and New Internationalist.

We consider our knowledge of world music press – from the traditional styles to the most specialist — second to none, be that in online or national press.

So, if you are planning a new release please contact us to discuss ways we can help.
