The Webb Sisters release new EP, tour with Leonard Cohen

EP release: When Will You Come Home by The Webb Sisters
Release date: 1 April 2013
Label: Proper Records
Listen: on official site

Hattie and Charlie Webb - The Webb Sisters - are an English duo who are currently in the midst of a very long Leonard Cohen tour. 1 April sees the release of their new EP, When Will You Come Home, which features some new songs from them plus two versions of Cohen’s Show Me The Place. They are available for interview by phone, skype or e-mail.

Born into a family of musicians in Kent, England, Charley and Hattie are dynamic performers with expressive voices and plangent harmonies; they are also are multi-instrumentalists and songwriters of originality and intelligence. Ingénues yet thinkers, the Webb Sisters create enthralling live performances.

The duo's singing and playing (harp, guitar, mandolin, piano, drums) draw from the folk and pop traditions of Britain and the United States. They have recorded three albums, building a following on their travels, achieving album, single and record of the week on iTunes and BBC Radio Two. Charley and Hattie have performed twice for Princess Anne and once for Queen Elizabeth.

Two DVD and audio albums have been released documenting the musical performances of the Leonard Cohen tours, Live in London and Songs from the Road. On the DVD Live In London, Charley and Hattie are featured on the song If It Be Your Will.

Charley and Hattie received an invitation to sing on Sting's album If On a Winter’s Night… and on Natalie Maines’ (of The Dixie Chicks) version of God Only Knows, which was featured on the series finale of HBO’s Big Love. The Webb Sisters have toured with Jamie Cullum, Rufus Wainwright, Jason Mraz, James Morrison, Kubb, Katie Melua, Leya and Joe Echo.

Reaction

“There's a reason Leonard Cohen, for whom Charley and Hattie Webb sing backup, refers to them as "the sublime Webb Sisters." Instant converts cheered and whistled for their spine-tingling, deadly-precise harmonies.” - Montreal Gazette

Dark, dirty, psychedelic rock from acclaimed band The Lost Souls Club - and a UK tour

EP Release and tour: High Noon by The Lost Souls Club
Release date: 25 February 2013
Listen: on official website
Video link: Shoot Me Down

“Romeo has a great opening riff and vocal line. The lyrical themes are suitably noir…so they sit alongside bands like The White Stripes and The Black Keys….and look like a junior Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds” – Simon Price, The Independent

“Perfect to soundtrack both wild Friday nights of excess and the gloomy sad Sundays that always follow, the likes of Kiss Away The Sun and Romeo are monochromatic slices of life that retrace and then reinvent those such as Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and The Raveonettes who came before them. The guitars are fuzzy, the vocals sleazy, the songs themselves urgent and paranoid, almost as if they’re scared of the impending sunrise. It’s thrilling stuff.” - Mischa Pearlman (Kerrang / Clash / Record Collector)

“Their dark, pulsing rock swirls with a sinister malice that sets the tone perfectly...” – Kerrang

“The Lost Souls Club may be a musical home for the heartbroken and dreamers, but on this showing I think they'll very soon need to start booking larger venues in which to hold their meetings, as they are about to explode.” – Uber Rock

"With hints of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and Jesus and Mary Chain, as well as NIN-edge that remains, there’s a real intensity that really makes it hard to turn away. There’s something dark and wrong going on here, but at the same time its irresistible… you just want to reach out and touch it." – Pure Rawk

Hailed by The Independent’s music guru Simon Price as the band to fill The White Stripes’ empty shoes, The Lost Souls Club are a UK band who play rock as it should be: dark, dirty and energized with a psychedelic twist. With reverb, fuzz and massive hooks the band belong with the likes of The Dead Weather, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and Jesus and The Mary Chain.

The band’s sinister rock is perfect for a long drive through the night along a lonely road with nothing but heartache for company, but they also have a musical alter ego – a brooding acoustic side that is just as thrilling as their rock'n'roll, with a naked intensity that echoes the sounds of Nick Cave and Johnny Cash.

Having just signed to JL Booking agency (Nine Black Alps, Spotlight Kid, Passenger), The Lost Souls Club are now are touring High Noon, their debut EP, which has already picked up glowing reviews in the UK and in Asia and Australia (where they toured in 2012). The theme running through the EP – from which the ‘High Noon’ title originates – is the idea of a showdown between two opposing sides of oneself: arrogance and insecurity. The mirrored image on the cover echoes this idea of duality.

High Noon was self-produced and recorded, apart from opening track, Romeo which was produced by the eminent Sam Bell (Editors, REM, Bloc Party). With BBC Introducing already hailing them as a ‘Band to Watch’ in 2013, this year is set to be a big one for The Lost Souls Club.

Reuse Me EP: new release from Zahed Sultan

EP Release: Zahed Sultan, Reuse Me EP
Release date:  28 May 2012
Label: Mouse Music
Listen: http://www.zahedsultan.com or http://www.soundcloud.com/zahed-sultan

Zahed Sultan announces the release of his new record, Reuse Me EP, as well as a new music video for the title track. Through his new body of work, Zahed delves deeper into uncharted territory – fusing influences in alternative / electronica music with feather-light vocals in both English and Arabic. Zahed debuts his vocal talents in both languages via this EP to express his ever-growing concerns for social change around the world.

Sultan released his debut album, Hi Fear, Lo Love, in 2011 and attained success with his single, I Want Her But I Don’t Want Her - Parisian DJ Stephane Pompougnac featured the single on the internationally acclaimed Hotel Costes 15 compilation. Prior to this, world-renowned house music label Global Underground and DJ Sasha awarded Zahed 3rd place for the Involver Remix Competition. Zahed’s Remix was later signed alongside DJ Sasha to America’s no.1 TV hit series CSI: Crime Scene Investigation

Aspiring for his sound to permeate consciousnesses, and appeal to today’s community of change-makers, Zahed conjures up two original tracks and two intricately woven remixes too – drawing on inspiration from the likes of Radiohead, Gorillaz, Kanye West, Sigur Ros, and Nicolas Jaar.

Zahed releases his new EP in conjunction with an annual exposition he holds in Kuwait, called REUSE, to promote eco-friendly living via creative mediums. REUSE is an annual exposition that serves as an opportunity for non-profit organizations, companies, professionals and aspiring creative talents to showcase their accomplishments in the fields of social responsibility and sustainability via a range of artistic mediums and interactive activities for the general public (see www.projectreuseme.com for more details).
