The Kinks at the BBC

The Kinks at The BBC

Box Set: The Kinks at the BBC
Release date: August 13 2012
Label: Universal

One of the UK’s best-loved musical institutions cement their legacy with a definitive new box set, The Kinks At The BBC, released August 13 on Universal.

With a juxebox of classic Kinks’ songs etched onto our national consciousness, this collection features sessions, live recordings and unreleased material and follows the band from their first steps on the Pye label to their glory days as one of the greatest British acts of all-time.

Documenting their journey to the heart and soul of rock ‘n’ roll cool, The Kinks At The BBC has been assembled by trawling the BBC archives, but also by inviting contributions from fans who helped dust off rogue broadcasts which may have fallen by the wayside.

Presented in a 5CD + DVD book package in the style of the Radio Times – with liner notes by Peter Doggett and Doug Hinman – also included is a DVD of The Kinks sought-after appearances on Top of the Pops, In Concerts and The Old Grey Whistle Test.

With comprehensive notes by Peter Doggett – who tells the story of the band’s history at the BBC – as well as mastering by Kinks aficionado Andrew Sandoval, it’s the first time these iconic television moments have been pinned down in one place.

The 2 CD set is a breakdown of the best of the band at The BBC.
