Folk music PR and roots music PR
Our ties within the folk and roots music press are stronger than ever. We’ve worked on a wide range of projects for renowned artists and labels; our roster includes artists such as Cowboy Junkies, Sandy Denny and Mary Gauthier, and labels that we work with include Universal, Navigator and Proper. We have recently also provided digital publicity services to the world famous Cambridge Folk Festival.
We have promoted not only artists but even labels - for example, we recently have been publicising Proper Music’s recently launched podcast, which covers everything from folk to country.
We focus not only on UK coverage, but target folk and roots sites and blogs all across Europe; the breadth of our contacts within these areas is unsurpassed.
Folk music is all about its history, its folklore, if you will, and we have been lucky enough to work on releases from some of the greatest artists to emerge from the genre - John Martyn and Nic Jones amongst them - but we’re just as focussed on the contemporary artists who are pushing the genre forward. In 2012 we helped Bellowhead on their way to securing a Top 20 album with ‘Broadside’, followed up with a 2013 BBC Folk Award win for Best Album; in the same year we worked on album releases for Kathryn Roberts & Sean Lakeman and Karine Polwart, who achieved a Best Duo win and Best Original Song nomination respectively. Richard Thompson also achieved a career-high album chart placing of 16 thanks to our efforts, for his record ‘Electric’. At the 2014 BBC Folk Awards, Lisa Knapp picked up a win for Best Original Song, our very own Cambridge Folk Festival left with the Good Tradition Award, while Josienne Clarke & Ben Walker and Lucy Ward also picked up nominations.
